Cooking has always been a passion of mine, but I never realised how much of a difference a gas stove could make until I made the switch. For years, I had been using an electric stove and had grown accustomed to its quirks and limitations. But one day, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to a gas stove, and I haven't looked back since. Here's why.
The first thing I noticed when cooking with my gas stove was how much better my food tasted. Gas stoves provide more precise temperature control, which means I could cook my food to perfection. From the perfect sear on a steak to perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs, the gas stove made it easier to achieve the cooking results I was after.
In addition to better cooking results, my gas stove also saved me time. Gas stoves heat up much faster than electric stoves, which means I can get meals on the table more quickly. Plus, when cooking with multiple burners, I can easily adjust the heat as needed to cook different dishes at the same time.
Gas stoves are also more energy-efficient than electric stoves. They use less energy to produce the same amount of heat, which means lower energy bills. In South Africa, where the grid is largely coal-based, using a gas stove can also result in significant reductions in CO2 emissions.
Another benefit of a gas stove is that it is load shedding proof. With a gas stove, you won't have to worry about cooking during power outages or load shedding. You can continue cooking your favourite meals without any interruptions.
One thing I love about my gas stove is how easy it is to clean. Unlike electric stoves, gas stoves have removable grates and burners that can be easily wiped down or even put in the dishwasher. This makes cleaning up after cooking a breeze.
Making the switch to a gas stove has been one of the best decisions I've made for my cooking. The precise temperature control, faster cooking times, energy efficiency, and load shedding solution have all made a big difference. Trust me, you won't regret it!
